There’s something primal about the sound of an organ, I usually imagine the same ancient air circulating through the pipes for centuries, and Kali Malone’s organ-oriented compositions only further this feeling. Drone at its most elemental.

Edited 4 years agoI just ed this album in ALAC format from Kali's bandcamp page. I checked the frequency spectrum (I do this out of paranoia with lossless s to try and check that they haven't been made from a lossy copy) and most tracks have nothing above about 11 or 12 kHz! I really hope this isn't because the tracks are sourced from lossy versions (although if they were I'd expect the cut-off to be quite a bit higher than it is) – is it possibly rather that they were recorded on a slightly low-spec open reel setup, and/or vintage ribbon mics? I've seen photos of her with tape machines so hopefully this is the explanation! Incidentally the files are 48 kHz/24-bit. Could have managed with a 30 kHz sampling rate though hahaha

Does anyone else's pressing of this have Side A and Side B center labels on the incorrect sides? Matrix runout with Side A has a Side B center label. Matrix runout with Side B has Side A center label.
