Atahualpa – Ultimo Imperio
Atahualpa’s Ultimo Imperio is a dark, atmospheric journey that fuses hypnotic techno with tribal, ritualistic elements. The EP opens with deep, pulsing basslines and intricate percussion that immediately draw you into a world of brooding energy. The sound design is dense and immersive, with layers of atmospheric textures, tribal drums, and haunting synths that create a sense of tension and mystery.
Each track evolves with precision, blending hypnotic rhythms and otherworldly soundscapes that seem to push forward through time, evoking a sense of ancient ritual and futuristic technology in the same breath. The driving beats are punctuated with sharp, melodic flourishes and eerie vocal samples that add a sense of haunting depth to the mix.
Ultimo Imperio is an EP that plays with contrasts—dark and light, primal and futuristic—creating an immersive listening experience that’s both spiritual and relentless. Atahualpa has crafted a release that feels both timeless and ahead of its time, perfect for those who like their techno deep, hypnotic, and full of atmosphere. -
Yeah! Probably one of the best techno-trance records of the early Italo-tech era. Extremely accentuated techno sound blended with the sound of Latin America and Inca ... A very melodious and extremely powerful record. I like it very much, and all of you check what I'm writing ...

Yet another EXCELLENT forgotten early trance EP. Atahualpa is a group of italian producers (you might know them better for their Ramirez project) who use a lot of native south american influences. This is really a one of a kind track, there are New Beat and trance influences, guatemalan influences and also a KILLER melody that just stays in your head for hours after listening. Makes you wonder how it remained so obscure and unkown. A definate must-have!!
