sound wise----this isn't a great sounding record in any way----but that being said it's supposed to have a lo-fi charm to it with energy built into the sound----so in that respect it works!! happy to have an original pressing either way. I saw the Strokes LIVE before this album came out, in a dingy basement full of 20 people and they were pure electricity. This record totally blew up several months later. I never did see them live again, but that memory is enough to keep them on my mind.

Once upon a time, Thelonious worked at a record store in the late 90's and got this record cuz it was fire at the time. Yet It was banned due to the cover - Then a bunch of air planes flew into the world trade centre on 9/11 on this record drop date and the song "Nyc Cops" Became Taboo- The world was never the same again.

Anyone know how to tell the difference from the rough trade repress without opening?

No mention of the insert here in the notes... Originals came with promo insert!

A Solid Record, from start to finish. Posterchild for the highpoint of early 2000's rock n roll comeback. Very well produced.

I bought the CD because of the cover alone when it came out in 2001and I just loved the music from that day. I bought the LP in 2005 but I hate the fact there is no inner sleeve. It's a bit silly really.

My version of this matches the identifiers of the 2011 reissue but I absolutely obtained mine in June 2010 as a Father's Day gift. Discogs lists the release date of the Rough Trade reissue as 2011. I don't time travel. Any thoughts?
