sound wise----this isn't a great sounding record in any way----but that being said it's supposed to have a lo-fi charm to it with energy built into the sound----so in that respect it works!! happy to have an original pressing either way. I saw the Strokes LIVE before this album came out, in a dingy basement full of 20 people and they were pure electricity. This record totally blew up several months later. I never did see them live again, but that memory is enough to keep them on my mind.

Edited 2 years agoOnce upon a time, Thelonious worked at a record store in the late 90's and got this record cuz it was fire at the time. Yet It was banned due to the cover - Then a bunch of air planes flew into the world trade centre on 9/11 on this record drop date and the song "Nyc Cops" Became Taboo- The world was never the same again.

A Solid Record, from start to finish. Posterchild for the highpoint of early 2000's rock n roll comeback. Very well produced.

I bought the CD because of the cover alone when it came out in 2001and I just loved the music from that day. I bought the LP in 2005 but I hate the fact there is no inner sleeve. It's a bit silly really.

My version of this matches the identifiers of the 2011 reissue but I absolutely obtained mine in June 2010 as a Father's Day gift. Discogs lists the release date of the Rough Trade reissue as 2011. I don't time travel. Any thoughts?
