I agree with those who say this is a good place to start if one wants a cross section of Pink Floyd. For the sound quality people I can’t say with certainty but these versions sound like a digital source was used. Older pressings have more detail and sound stage. This compilation is not by any means terrible…just not what I hear with OG all-analog copies. This set is convenient but not necessary. Many of the hits all in one double LP set is kinda nice. However, for those looking for audiophile caliber…look elsewhere.

This is an Excellent compilation. The sound is Great! Don’t let Any negative reviews sway you cuz sound is subjective. I think the negative reviews are because of crappy setups, tbh. ‘Cuz this sounds Fantastic on my setup. And I do have very desirable pressings of their original studio albums to compare with. This, Of course doesn’t compare to Those pressings but it sounds Great in its own right. I love how this plays like a Pink Floyd studio album, in that, the tracks fade to the next in most cases and was done with a lot of thought, obviously. Great for someone just getting into Floyd and wants to hear their best stuff. As for clicks and pops… every single Floyd remaster has this. Clean it!!! Mines quiet as church mouse. The only complaint I have about this set, is that it only includes One track from Division Bell… and it’s not even the Best track. Take It Back and What Do You Want From Me should’ve been included. Outside of that I love it.

A good compilation for new fans that really leaves the best of Pink Floyd to be discovered by checking out the full albums while still giving a good taste of what Pink offers. Also good one to grab if if your just getting your vinyl collection going or just want the hits , sounds good and high quality packaging.

Edited 3 years agoI can’t think of any reason to get this compilation over the albums. Maybe something to give to someone completely unfamiliar with Pink Floyd to point to some of the signature songs, though I'd start with individual albums even then.
I'd have done even more from the classic albums and less from their later albums which are much weaker and a travesty that the first record by Barrett completely ignored (save for the non-LP single).
Not bad sound, and good as a survey of some career highlights, but could have used liner notes. -
My copy sounds absolutely fantastic! Very quiet vinyl and shines when volume is cranked up. Nice selection of songs and beautiful glossy inners and nice gatefold as well. Yup, it’s a keeper!

Edited 6 years agoA little disappointed in this one. The vinyl isn't as quiet as the other Floyd remasters, with some crackling throughout. Most impressively, the inner sleeves are heavy glossy stock.
