I own an original from 1993 and this is pretty nice too but I'm always a bit iffy when it comes to added dance remixes in the album package. There was a lot of material from back then and if they did a box set it would have been better.

Edited one year agoLike a few people on this thread, I'm hearing some weird distortions, unevenness and muffled sounds esp on side 2. Lemon sounds particularly bad. This is my third pressing of this album (+ Original UK and Brazillian) and it’s not a big improvement. I think I’m resigned to the fact that it’s perhaps the only album I know that I prefer to listen to on CD. It’s the most ‘digital’ album in U2s catalogue, sonically and in intent, so it kinda makes sense.

It's ok, not great. I like the added warmth. There are some mastering or production mishaps in the top end at least on my copy. The first track in particular has sandpaper harsh treble in parts, which aren't as prominent in other versions I've heard.
-
If you only buy this for the Perfecto mix of Lemon, you’ve already got your money’s worth. Outstanding pressing across all sides. The only downside - artwork should have been high gloss, and produced in a gatefold format.

I not liking this album when it first came out, for some reason I it being a bit harsh-sounding on CD. This pressing, however, does not sound like that. Of course, I cleaned it before first play (as I do all my records), and I thought it sounded fantastic. I very much enjoyed the album in this incarnation. My copy was pretty much perfect with no artifacts or surface noise whatsoever. I thought the mix sounded clear and detailed, but perhaps a tad bit lower than other records. I'm glad I decided to re-discover this album with this pressing.
-
My copy has a muffled sound, with the sound lower than normal. Although I like the deep bass, this sound seems too muffled, lifeless but free of noise. I still don't realize the need to release copies divided into 2 LP's, two/three songs on each side, it becomes boring to hear an album that every two songs we have flip it.
-
How does Side A sound?? My copy has a massive unlistenable scratch on it (probably from a box cutter). Very sad because the title track is my favourite of the 10

Edited 2 years agoPretty good sound — better than the original CD. Much more clear and snappy with no sacrifice of low end. I could have done without the Side D remixes — shoulda slapped on a few live tracks from that tour or a rarity.
