Excellent pressing with a near complete lack of surface noise. I'd die for these silly hugging dogs.

It's a sad commentary when the best album of the year IMO is just a re-recording of an album from 7 years prior. If I were Will Toledo, I never would have remade Twin Fantasy, but I understand why he did.
I've got nothing against slick, glossy production. In fact, I tend to prefer it over most lo-fi recordings, which end up sounding dry and boring to me. But there was something magical about the inspired amateurism of the original Twin Fantasy. It may have been accidental, but it had a unique other-worldly ambience, like a buried artifact from a lost and forgotten civilization ruled by angsty teenage aliens. By comparison, the new big-budget version ends up sounding dangerously close to generic mainstream indie rock. Fortunately, the enduring quality of the songs still elevates it above the pack. If this re-recording helps Car Seat Headrest reach a wider audience, that's perfectly fine. But I think I'll always prefer the original. -
Edited 2 years agoOverall this release gets an 8/10. The vinyl was pressed with too much bass and has quite a few clicks on the second record. Luckily my speakers have a tweakable bass knob. Unfortunately the vinyl is packaged in paper sleeves. I'd still recommend buying this over the American pressings. The American pressings are notorious for warps and skips.

Still available via European Amazon for 30 euros. No need to spend 50 on this (although definitely worth it, amazing album)

Excellent pressing. Flat and centered correctly. Incredibly quiet with regards to surface noise, only side D has some surface noise during Famous Prophets. Dynamics and detail are very good as well. I would highly recommend this pressing. It really does justice to this fantastic record.

Very surprised by the sound quality. Sounds absolutely glorious. Very wide and a lot of presence. Incredibley impressive pressing. And as for the music it is absolutely fantastic. The amount of detail and humanity is stunning. What a superb album!

Sounds much better than the US version. I thought people were overreacting, but this one is MUCH cleaner has way less surface noise.

My copy has quite a lot of surface noise, and the sound quality feels really subpar in most of the songs compared to the digital version.
Quite disappointed about this because it's one of my favorite records of the year. Still cool to own it on wax though. -
The copy I have also has a "VX" inscribed in the deadwax on both sides of the first disk, anyone else confirm?
Additionally, this pressing is on lighter weight vinyl than the other two pressings.
