The debut was good but overrated, this brilliant but underrated second release was much better and could have had 7 singles (almost every track jumped out and charged like a wounded bull). didn';t any fan of the debut notice there was a lot of guitars ? this is my fave ABC release.

Didn’t like this the 1st time round as it’s so far from the look of love it could be a different group. With that said the more I listen, the more I like it. Less pop, more rock. Well recorded and very punchy on the Rega TT.

Seriously good lp. A darkness of the 80s is prescient. The shallow image explained. The reality of banality for most - described.
-
The single most underrated album of the 80s! It’s their best album and a f***ing feel-good rock masterpiece!
-
Very underrated. Has great songs with catchy hooks but played in a much harder rock style which didn’t sit well with their pop fan base

I personally think it is one of the most underated, but maybe their best album. Less plain pop driven than "The look of...", but not less catchy tunes. One of my favourite songs by ABC is still "Unzip". It has got it all, the pop and the rock elements, that make the band and this record such great. I still prefer the German and the Japanese vinyl record pressings for best possible sound quality

As nice as the deluxe editions are of the ABC catalogue, they are missing quite a lot of content, such as the extended versions of Tears Are Not Enough, The Look Of Love and Be Near Me to note. Why do this? Why not make a deluxe edition of an album with ALL remixes!?
