A stunning presentation of this all-time masterpiece on vinyl. However, the Japanese SHM-CD is still the best sounding version of this album in existence..

Close to zero noise. Mastering was a bit off though, the guitars and vocals clashed

Does anyone have a spare or get an extra lyric booklet they would be willing to send on or sell please? Didn’t get one with my copy.

I personally love the sound, this is a much darker piece and thesound compliments it, as far as the pressing is concered, I picked up couple last year, one was for a friend, and to me it's a solid repress by Pallas.

I normally always deep clean all my purchases before spin. but this time I was feeling lazy and only swiped it with a damp cloth and it plays absolutely fine there's a pop on Disc 2 Side B, and little static in quiter parts, but nothing overpowering.

Also Ortofon 2m Blue being analytical brings out more compared to let's say Nagaoka or Sumiko, So with a more warm cart the noise will reduce, Cartridge on your turntable can play the spoilsport, a part which many ignores.

very sad that my copy of this has so much surface noise. it is most likely my fault, i've had it for about 5 years and i have not had very good cleaning habits at all until recently so i'm very sure it's just dust ingrained in the grooves because of that. live and you learn, i guess. i still spin this weekly regardless, can't hear the surface noise through speakers but through my headphones it's very irritating and takes away from the experience.

For all the comments about the mastering, that's just how this album sounds. I love this album but I have always felt that the mixing/mastering wasn't very expansive in a lot of parts. Yes, the vocals take up the same sonic space as the guitars a lot of the time. But that's not just because of the vinyl, imo. I have always felt that way after listening to the digital version. I haven't critically listened to the digital remastered files, so maybe those are better.

I will agree that this pressing doesn't have as much of an improvement over digital compared to the definitive With Teeth pressing, which sounds fucking amazing. Still, this is a fine sounding vinyl I think

Great record, and this is an excellent pressing of it... However, this album really isn't suited for vinyl. IMHO, spreading it across six sides *really* messes with the flow. These songs were written to be spread across two CDs. On that note, though, the digital version of this album is absolutely incredible. This is my favourite album in the entire world, and the remastered digital version takes it to a whole new level. I don't regret paying MSRP for this, but unless you really love this album like I do, you might consider just pirating it.

Listening to my copy last night revealed a sad reality. This isn't an album that's suited for vinyl at all. I'm no audio engineer but these mixes are just so massive and polished to an absolute digital sheen with no mind paid for vinyl that the effect is comparable to watching an old DVD on a giant 4K TV. It doesn't sound terrible or anything, but I personally don't believe there is any real fidelity to be gained from it. Songs like 'We're In This Together' sound super muddy when that behemoth of a chorus kicks it. Quieter parts with more space sound nice, but that's mostly just because the vinyl came super clean and quiet. The '99 CD sounds great and there are also super high res digital audio files of the vinyl version available with the extra songs (which btw seems like they were left off for good reason). That said, the packaging looks fucking awesome and the booklets included are great.
