Edited 11 months agoi bought this new brand new online and when it came in the mail, the booklet had indents. amazon sent me a new copy, that booket had indents too? idk if thats significant, but y'all should know i guess, and i've never had a cd come new with booklet indents before, let alone twice for the same album. i did get a refund for both and got to keep it, ill probably donate to the thrift, so, yeah!!!!
as an album, its alright. i picked it up cuz it's mostly original versions of songs, non-remixed, but i feel like the tracks they picked coulda been better, it's kinda one-beat at times and doesn't touch all aspects of shakur's character. it is nice to have all this unreleased content to chew on though, and it really is just a compilation of pre-deathrow era stuff and shouldn't AT ALL be seen as a real 2pac album. i do really suggest picking until the end of time first if you wanna get into his posthumous stuff, unless you ADORE the S4MN to Me Against the World era Shakur. One bonus of picking up this compared to deathrow era content is that you get more pac for ya dollar since theres not many features and he sounds significantly more sane/coherent/lessonedge compared to after he was shot and put into jail for that rape charge. -
Edited one year agoLooking for an OG sealed copy of R U Still Down for $200. Money ready. Let me know.

I only own Sides A And B..but still worth A Comment Review..Seeing As No One Else Has Taken Time Out..I really enjoyed listening to the tracks even though I've not got whole shaboom.. -
Edited 2 years agoEasily my fav posthumous 2Pac album. Much better than the rushed but still praised “The Don Killuminati (The 7 Day Theory)”.
Afeni Shakur picked out some heat for this one! “Open Fire” is crazy and why it was scrapped while ‘Pac was still around I’ll never understand. “Thug Style” over a reggae riddim is another highlight on a very strong A-side.
Side B is more mellow but equally dope, zero skips. C-side continues the triumph. My top picks here is the not so subtle “F**k All Y’all”. And the Poetic Justice rerun “Definition of a Thug N**ga”.
D-side and onwards is when you start to notice an unfortunate decline in quality, some of these ts doesn’t quite feel like fully fleshed out songs, they have a demo-ish vibe to them. This does not mean that the final stretch of this 3LP is all bad. It’s just further between the dope tracks.
Lovely “Do For Love” for example is directly followed by should have been left in the vault material “Enemies With Me”. The hip-hop version of “I Wonder If Heaven Got A Ghetto” is another highlight. All things considered, this is a really dope posthumous project. Top 4 from Tupac’s entire discography, dead or alive. Rest In Peace King! -

R U Still Down ( Me) is the first record releases after 2Pac died that had no input from the artist himself in the production process. The material used for this album all originated from the time between Strictly For My N.I.G.G.A.Z. and Me Against The World. I always had a bit of a mixed feeling about this album. There are definitely tracks that are worthy of being released but just as much tracks that in my opinion should have stayed in the vaults. Those are mostly the tracks that were far from finished by 2Pac himself and the producers had to fill in the blanks. Those songs often miss the edge and seldom rise above average. Considering the fact that this is the first record released from the allegedly hundreds of unfinished songs left by 2Pac gives not great hope for future releases. A point that would become al to clear in the years to come. R U Still Down ( Me), in my opinion, could have serviced with being a single album instead of a double. Then there would be more focus on the tracks that actually sound good. Now there’s to often a feeling of disappointment when another track comes by that’s nothing more than a polished up demo tape. Like I said before this is an album with two faces, but still to me is, the Makaveli album aside, the only release after 2Pac died that holds some right of being released.
