Agree with the previous post. "I'll meet you in Poland baby" is a cracker of a tune, one of my absolute favourites of all time. With the genius lyrics eg "I hear you got a six-inch guarantee of unilateral security". All of the Hole album is so so good: snarling, subversive, sinister, funky, and wildly energetic. "White Knuckles" is priceless too. One of great albums of the 20th century, for me it set the standard for a long time ('but is it as good and as strong as Hole?' not often).

This release is the opposite of the "loudness wars", in that you will need to crank your volume up a few pegs before pressing 'Play'... it's a quiet release. Sounds AMAZING, wonderfully crunchy and heavy.
          Great album to boot.

This reissue of the ongoing Foetus project by Industrial juggernaut Jim Thirlwell is by far the best of his early works. Featuring some of the artists most loved pieces from the 80's 'Hole' is certainly more palatable than many of his more experimental prose, giving the genre a much needed boot up the arse with it's use of metallic percussion and wild use of sampling.
From the creative take-down's of Iggy Pop & Nick Cave on 'Lust For Death' & 'Sick Man' (respectively) to the worryingly addictive allegory of toxic relationships by way of a history lesson on the motions that started the 2nd World War in 'I'll See You In Poland Baby' it quickly becomes clear that Thrilwell is an extremely talented musician (and possibly insane). From beginning to end each song knows it's place and gives the order to everyone listening to get up and dance through the many levels of Faustian sins, the latter part of the album being a fantastic musical journey through Hell itself! Another highlight is the fantastically silly 'Satan Place' which takes notes from the 50's surfer rock genre making for a devilishly fun time, all the while being part on an ongoing mini concept (though it isn't laid on too thick that it becomes distracting).
From the heavy hits of 'Clothes Hoist' to it's brooding finale 'Cold Day In Hell' 'Hole' is a perfect start if you're looking to get into 80's Industrial as well as the works of Jim Thirlwell. Weird, wonderful and with a bleeding experimental groove it is a head turning terror trip that has been a massive influence on the industrial and alternative genres ever since inception. It's also an eerie black stone plinth in Thirlwell's back catalogue; hypnotic, dark and driven by an ancient insanity that makes the likes of Lovecraft seem like a walk in the park!

My copy is identical to the above with the exception of the Barcode which clearly ends with 04% instead of 05%.

Crazy album. I can't name anything that sounds like it. Truly unique. Pressing sounds fantastic!

4 years before "Land of Rape And Honey" and 5 years before "Pretty Hate Machine" there was ""Clothes Hoist".

Do not buy this version of the CD. It was made in the UK by PDO and suffers from Disc Rot. Eventually all of the information on the CD will rot away. It's easy to identify because the top of the disc will exhibit "bronzing" around the edges.
