As far as radio edits go, this one is actually pretty cool..it manages to still leave the essence of the entire track while “narrowing” down the instrumental parts
-
referencing Are 'Friends' Electric (7", 45 RPM, Single, Misprint, Stereo, No Label A-side '?') BEG 18
the release notes suggest this variant wasn't pressed at Damont....
'The variant does not carry the DAMONT signature, and may not have been pressed by them'
However the matrix details under BARCODES indicates it does
BEG 18 A1 STRAWBERRY DAMONT

Edited 2 years agoYet another version with the B side ‘We are so fragile’- with that cheeky ‘?’ that shouldn’t be there!

I thought Billy Currie was in Tubeway Army. He is definitely playing the keyboard in their appearance on 'the old grey whistle test' session during 'are friends electric'. Probably never gets credit for his session work. I also saw him play electric violin for 'the Skids' in a tv appearance as well. I reckon he's the unsung hero of synth pop. Anyone know anything about this ?

when this came out that riff was so out of this world . hearing it as a kid blew my mind and led me to a life of electronic music .
-
Just realised that the main riff on Are friends electric is most probably ripped off from Roxy Music's The Bogus man !
