Michael Jackson – Off The Wall

I have a Variant 4 and the hand claps are in "Rock With You". Does anyone know if it's Variants 1, 2, or 3 that are without the hand claps?

One of my local stores just got this in and after previously reading some of the comments here, I decided to grab it. And as I read, this pressing is fantastic. The vinyl was flat and both discs played through silent of noise. The balance is incredible. The bass, mids and highs sounded just as I like it. The bass thumps, but never sounds bloated. The highs, crisp, but never shrill. Great soundstage and separation. Not cheap, but recommended highly.

I compared the first European CD release from 1986 with this SACD, and the SACD beats it by a mile. It doesn't sound as harsh in the highs and has a much warmer bass. I'd say Off the Wall has never sounded so funky and natural. The slapping bass rips through my ears. A perfect release.

Does anyone own the sacd and one step, how do the two compare from each other?

Great cut. I'd love to cleaner copy at some point but my VG copy still sounds wonderful.

Off The Wall was done originally with 1/4'' 30 vs Thriller 1/2'' 30 so always sounded better. This is an amazing release. Great job MOFI.

Holy shit. What a thump. This is what a disco record should sound like. The version on streaming services almost has no bass, but this thumps like a mf.

Pretty good sounding but analogue:ism is gone. Any way it will be the last Krieg W master I buy as not sure what this guy is up to as in all his masters for MoFi the lower base is lifted or something just adding an unnatural thump and that seem to be his signum as an example, all the MoFi 45 Dire Straits have the same feature. It is just something that makes these masters from him no fun to listen to, kind of one note thump base. Ok, I have a full freq system 20 Hz and up, maybe on some loudspeakers no issue as it would not be heard, who knows! Sure some details are heard a bit clearer but still missing the groove that Orig has. Maybe an Analogue Prod master/press would deliver better results. At least this one sounds better that Thriller (33 rpm though). Or is it just a matter of old tapes getting squeezed for their last drops? Even some UHQR does not seize up to Orig… still some tracks are better sounding than some...

This pressing sounds immaculate. Blows away most production of today. Punchy and full. It sounds genuinely impressive. I feel like this is the only way to hear the album now.
