Notes

Album is copyrighted 1974, and it was originally intended to be released late that year, following Dylan's sessions in New York in September, 1974. However, after covers and label copy had already been sent to the printers, Dylan decided to re-record five songs, and these recordings were done in Minneapolis on December 27 and 30, 1974. First official release was on 20 January, 1975. There may be 1974 test pressings, comprising all New York recordings.

Genuine 1975 Australian vinyl release of this great album. My edition was apparently a fixture in a radio station in the 70's and was picked up in some kind of estate/ lot sale before it found its way to me in the year of our Lord, 2024. It's a bit crackly here and there, but generally quite good. A fantastic, present, crisp album dripping with 1970's love and war and about as far as you can get from the horrors of the internet and what this world's become as it slides into the ditch. Happy to have it. Terrific music.

Sounds great….very different from CD I have as sound is full, soundstage is perfect and Bob’s voice in front and well detailed. I like it.

Just compared this with the MoFi SACD, and it's clear that this mastering puts additional emphasis on Dylan's vocal and guitar, rather than the backing instrumentation, while the SACD brings the other instruments up to a comparable volume to match the vocals. Which makes this release's version of "Idiot Wind" cut like a knife, without sounding shrill, while "Tangled Up In Blue"'s chiming guitar harmonics are pushed to the background.
Oh, and the SACD curiously does not mute the sound of the leader tape between songs.

Unbelievable. Really, truly unbelievable. Easily a top 5, if not top 3, sounding record in my collection. I'm not sure if it's because they've switched to their new MoFi plant for this new pressing, but my copy arrived absolutely perfect with no flaws. Usually MoFi records arrive with at least a little bit of noise, but this one was absolutely pristine. Buy with confidence.

My favourite Dylan record by a long way, this pressing has given me a new appreciation for it ... so 3D .. i know MoFi use a digital step but whatever they have done here it works... unreal pressing. 10/10 must own, can't imagine how 45rpm would be any better but if it is it would be some pressing
