I just bought this at a record fair in Wimbledon for £50 have I been ripped off, I thought it was a genuine release but it seems not?

Hi all,
I saw some beautiful and expensive Mint sealed copies listed here. Just want to warn you about my story...
A friend of mine picked-up for me a so called "Mint sealed" copy of a Japanese press in Paris () from a store which is listing here and many others "Mint sealed" nice records.
My friend is not a collector/expert and despite the shrink had been opened and the record checked, he didn't see the very light hairlines and spindle marks difficult to see at day light.
The record is more or less NM all around and an insert was missing. It costed me probably twice the price I should have been paying for. It's not bad grading, it's simply robbery.
So, be careful, famous old records still sealed are pretty rare on the market. Only real collectors and very serious stores like some I'm in touch with in Japan and the US can be trusted. And unfortunately more and more robbers like that shop in Paris are re-sealing records to make more money faster. I gave it a try. Too bad for me. A second try is not necessary, just don't buy anything from that guy.

My first experience with picture disc and I must say that indeed the background of the vinyl is quite loud, but to my surprise there's not much of the surface noise at all. The mix could be a little bit better, but it is not as bad as others said here. I'm happy with it to be honest. I hope however that a new remaster for Bloodflowers will be released soon, perhaps after the release of SOALW eh? Fingers crossed. -

Surprisingly quiet pressing for a picture disc. Also in the rare case you have a added stopper the inside tracks go deep into the middle of the record much like a 45. So last song on all 4 sides is cut off 3/4 of the way thru. Of course removing the stopper solves this. Unfortunately as others have stated there are no impressive dynamics at all. On a revealing system you will regret paying anything substantial for this album. Definitely would benefit from a system that colors and exaggerates. Everything is in the highs and mids, lower mids and bass took this one off. I will say usually albums like this are shilling at any kind of increased volume...however not so much the case here as long as you don't plan on cranking too high. Ughh and the hole in the album cover to reveal the picture discs really sucks bcs if you place your vinyl in a protective sleeve and store outside the cover, you now have 2 giants holes on each side with bare paper cardboard. Whoever came up with this idea is telling the world the do not own vinyl records as they are clueless how we store them. All in all if your a fan of the Cure and vinyl collecting and "have" to own this album to complete your collection do yourself a favor and just buy the cheapest version you can find. -

I agree with pretty much everybody else here about sound quality being very good for a picture disc but the die-cut cover is simply an aberration and everytime I pull it out of the shelf I ask myself.....why??!! -

Looking for a copy of just record 1 so if anyone has an incomplete or damaged record 2/sleeve -

Why not buy this , there is no reason to be silly and not buy this as it is a better pressing than the original and best of all it is original . I never ever thought that a picture disc would sound so good . Would I pay more than €100 if I didn't have it? Well yes and I would not regret it -

In my opinion, the best picture disc i´ve ever heard. Highly recommended!
