does this version really have the secret Garden Variety track? or is it only on the cd?

There’s something special about this comp, not sure what. It’s not Lookout’s most spectacular offerings, if anything there are a few rando bands you’d never hear from again. You will not be surprised Ben Weasel compiled this. That being said it’s a good, fun listen with highlights for anyone who may be Lookout friendly. Some tracks only ever made their appearance here, like the Screeching Weasel track. This compilation has what is in my opinion the best Vindictives song and also the best version of the best Vindictives song because the original tends to go on a little too long. I’m not a huge Face to Face fan but the only way to hear this track is here or a live album, I prefer the studio version. But really for a long time it was the only way you could hear Sea Foam Green by Jawbreaker so I look at it with a particular fondness. -

Was the Garden Variety track only on the cd version? I have a vinyl version with the Jawbreaker misprint but no Garden Variety track. -

I have this misprint vinyl version with the Jawbreaker song spelled wrong on the back cover. However the Garden Variety hidden track is not on here and not listed. I believe the hidden track was on the cd versions only. I could be wrong.I don't know if the Garden Variety track was on other vinyl pressings of Punk USA. I think it was on the the other vinyl pressings with the correct Jawbreaker song spelling versions. Does anybody know? -

Oh and that hidden track by garden variety is killer! -

This comp is about half good. What's sad is that the bigger-name bands on here all have the best songs: Screeching Weasel, Jawbreaker, Face to Face, etc. Bonus points to the Vindictives and 8-Bark songs -- this was probably the highest-profile release 8-Bark was ever on -- but some of these songs are pretty boring. It takes some serious chops to make pop-punk interesting in 2014, and it wasn't much different in 1994. Still worth owning for the side or so of good songs.
