The Riverdales
Profile: |
The Riverdales were a punk band from Chicago that was formed in 1994 by Ben Foster (vocals/guitar), Dan Schafer (vocals/bass), and Dan Sullivan (drums), all former of the then-defunct Screeching Weasel. They released their self-titled debut album in 1995, touring extensively that year as the opening act first for the Mr. T Experience and then for Green Day. The band recorded a second LP in 1997 but broke up upon its release, with Foster later citing tension that developed between the while on the Green Day tour as the primary reason for the split. In 2003, Foster and Schafer revived the Riverdales' name with new drummer Dan Lumley to record the "Phase 3" LP. This line up never performed live and the band went into hibernation after the record's issue. In 2008, Foster and Schafer announced that the Riverdales were back again, this time with drummer Adam Cargin. This line-up recorded 2 albums. 2010's "Tarantula" featured second guitarist Simon Lamb, making the band's line-up 4/5's of the now-resurrected Screeching Weasel's touring line up. Lamb was soon replaced by Drew Fredrichsen (who also replaced Lamb in SW). The band split in March 2011, following Screeching Weasel's disastrous appearance at the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas. |
