ABBA – Super Trouper

Great CD version. Sounds like the 80s POLYDOR mastering, but without the annoying drop-out in the title track. Highly recommended !!!

I have to say: a very anaemic sounding 2001 remaster by Jon Astley and Michael B Tretow. The music is superb, of course, but it sounds like the bass has been rolled off below about 60 - 70 Hz. As an example, compare the second half of track 10 on this CD with the same song on ABBA - Super Trouper). The wall-shaking bass, quite apparent on both Abba Gold CD and Epic vinyl LP, is barely there on the 2001 remaster. The rest of the tracks sound similarly thin. Too polite!

Apparently the CD version to get is the Polydor remaster from the 1990s (ABBA - Super Trouper) but I personally haven't heard that.

Reviewing every record in my collection;

Goddamn it, Man it's always a treat to listen to a record that sounds this good. Great bassline, warm mids and the voices of both Agnetha and Frida shine through without sounding too "Trebly" this is a stand out of how any good vinyl sould sound like.

As the other reviewers say, amazing master. Resolution and stereo imaging that makes it like hearing it for the first time again. Another moving experience for a true fan that's only heard digital or picture disc.

Used a microlinear stylus on an AT turntable, using its own preamp (sounded wrong via my discrete phono preamp despite neutral settings), connected directly to a balanced amp and listening via FiiO FH19 Hybrid IEM's (4.4mm connector/Sonic Foam tips). HumminGuru Orbit used to remove static prior to playback.

weird, my copy has the same number (both on the album cover and record) but the Polydor logo on the record is black instead, could that me a missprint?

A fantastic-sounding pressing with a well-made cardboard cover. One of my favourite pressings of that album (besides the dutch POLYDOR pressing). Highly recommended !!!

George Piros did a fantastic job remastering this album. It is the second best-sounding pressing behind the Abbey Rd cut, which is abbasolutely stellar.
