Red Herring is a Platipus masterpiece. With a variety of elements appearing and vanishing after a brief period and the acid synths rotating almost 360 degrees in your brain, it is so disorienting that you can't keep your eyes open. Those effects are much more pronounced in the Remastered version.

My take on Red Herring is it feels like two different, opposing "tracks" coexist and they try to take over the song. That's why it starts with acid synths that grow bigger and bigger, but before they can own the song, the drum, kick, and bass come in and steer the direction of the track. After a while, the acid synths make a powerful comeback, but they fade away shortly. Two different parts trying to take over the song by distracting the listener represents the logical fallacy red herring, which gives the track its name. Of course, that's purely my speculative idea and I might be totally off.

On the side of deep and fused trance we have this track of Union Jack, with a buzzing electronic energy in constant evolution, reaching summits in emotions. "Red Herring" exudes the power of the Platipus sound.
Your body, abandoned to sounds, becomes one with music. Your blood is boiling in your veins, the subliminal acceleration of this fury transforms the trancefloor into an incandescent furnace. Its cerebral effects take us beyond a purely sound world, it transports us to the depths of our interior.
Undoubtedly one of the most played songs of 1995, and entry to the pantheon of the greatest trance anthems.
