Suntrip Records

Profile:

Belgian goa trance label, set up in 2004 by Fabien (Anoebis), a famous Belgian DJ and party organiser.

Suntrip Records concentrates on classic goa trance made with modern production, but they also re-released a few classics from the golden era as well as some downtempo/ambient productions.
Their dedication to- and general focus on classic goa trance helped spark a renewed interest in this subgenre in the international scene in general and Belgium in particular.

Their music shop also serves as a redistributor for other independent goa labels.

In 2017, Chris Roquet officially ed the label after 10 years of various collaborations.
In 2022, Fabien (Mars (6)) left the label.

Yes! So happy you still exist! Keeping goa-trance alive since 2004. In the beginning they released more melodic stuff, but now they matured and they release all possible goa-trance styles. Going from strength to strength for years now!

Suntrip Records are a brilliant ray of sunshine in these dark times. There's a real quality to their output - no fillers, no meandering - just track after track of superb, uplifting, sparkling old-school style Goa trance. There are so many magnificent gems among the back catalogue that it is difficult to choose a stand-out release to recommend.Having said that, any label that recognises the brilliance of classics like Asia 2001's Psykadelia or Dimension 5's Transimensional - and allows people to buy them once again- clearly deals in quality. Suntrip Records have an ear for magnificent, jaw-dropping, goose-bump inducing Goa trance - if that is what you are searching for, then you've found the perfect label.

Goa Trance music peaked in the mid 1990s and went out of style around the turn of the century. Suntrip Records caters to a small crowd who are desperate not to let Goa Trance music "die", and are hence willing to accept and cling to mediocre and derivative work under the illusion that they're somehow "keeping it alive". This derivative work is sometimes refered to as neo-Goa.

While the music released by Suntrip Records is still called Goa Trance, it's quite different from the music that was released under the same label in the 1990s. Neo-Goa is essentially classic Goa Trance distilled into it's most formulaic sound, and then amplified. The creativity found in classic Goa Trance has been substituted for more and more layers of louder sounds.

Generally speaking, I would not recommend Suntrip Records to anyone. Note that they have reissued a couple classics like Dimension 5 and, to their credit, they have done a fairly good job with regards to not butchering them.

Great label & has a lot of good artists who produce true melodic goa/psytrance just like a lot of early goatrance artists did in the early 90's & they from this label are worth checking out on youtube & if you like it buy it....as many of these cd's of this style sometimes go out of print or the label disappears & so the material can sometimes be difficult to get or it goes skyhigh in price.

Suntrip records is a perfectly apt name for this label, as their output can be directly compared to that of TIP records in the mid-nineties; they release melodic morning goa trance with a nod to some of the 'big' names of the peak of the genre, just before it metamorphosed into psychedelic trance: Etnica/Pleiadians, Astral Projection, the Infinity Project, Hallucinogen etc. So far there hasn't been even a remotely dark release - it's all positive energy and beams of cosmic ethereal light. Let's hope they keep it like this for many years to come, as no one else releases this style anymore.
