since many years there was a huge "race" from goa trance heavy "collectors" to claim unreleased music as their own.
for a while we used to get high quality releases from labels like the original dat records, early suntrip, of unreleased music with a proper physical release.
but no more. label owners just want to put as much music out as they can, claim the artist roster quickly to their own name. instead of quality physical releases we get bits and bytes. even if you want to turn it physical, you don't get a high quality print of the front cover, there's no back cover and no cd art. music for nothing. and if anyone does want to make something commercial out of it, they can't because someone stamped it as their own. regardless if the artist gets his 100 dollars or not. what a shame. -
Thanks there is a lot of resources average listeners can't get access to. Bandcamp is also my favorite music app.

How many of these masterpieces and secret pieces wouldn't deserve a plastic rerelease? Even as a simple Cardboard sleeve release, nothing fancy or expensive, perhaps something like Suntrip Warming Freeze or Blue Moon UK Sampler or Sakura.
A nice idea would be for the label to make a psynews poll, from time to time, for deciding along with the followers of which releases to make physical.
For sure, many of these deserve much more then a digital release, but in any case, it's a good effort to and gather all these lost treasures. -
I am so glad this label exists. At this point when I buy CDs it is primarily ripped to FLAC and then sat on the shelf. While I'd happily buy a reissue CD of pretty much all these titles for a decent price and have the artwork, the music is the main attraction in the end. CGT allows me to get the same high quality sound files I'd get ripping a CD at a much better price as some of these original releases go for ridiculous prices these days. Yes there are some released here that are available for not that much cost, but it is still nice to be able to just buy the FLAC files directly. I hope they keep up the awesome work for a long time!

Edited 4 years agoI don't know what their target audience is with most of these releases since the original CDs/Vinyls are identical and are not that expensive. But it is nice that some of their releases include additional unreleased bonus tracks, so kudos for that. It's also nice that they aren't ruining the music with modern remastering as some other labels do. That said, I would prefer the original mastering in every case I've checked.
