we do get some sometimes (although half of them are nothing to do with ambient or experimental)
here's a thread to post unknowns in etc. tho. -

can someone clarify ambient & experimental music for me?
i'm reading a post of best ambient stuff and i see someone list pink floyd, really, pink floyd is ambient? moby? voodoo child?
isn't pink floyd rock? moby & voodoo child hard techno?
at this moment i'm listening to the ambient cookbook, vol 2, disk 1. i consider this ambient.
is early dance 2 trance ambient or trance/techno?
first couple of releases of the orb? ambient or trance?
can someone explain the difference between ambient/trance/techno
experimental? i consider the two premature ejaculation cds on dark vinyl experimental. am i correct?
i've been meaning to post this for a while, finally i ed.
thanks for your time and knowledge,

There are examples of tons of "rock" bands songs that could be considered ambient. Have you ever heard Echoes from Meddle by Pink Floyd? -

it's a great track from a very good [psychedelic rock] album, but my definition of the genre would not include 'Echoes'.
especially the epsilon link is very helpful IMO.

kind of relevant:
at the Monterey Bay Aquarium,... in the lower levels, I thiiiink they play Brian Eno over the soundsystem. I was there a few years back and I was like "....woah wait, is that...?"
it was totally his late 70's/early 80s style stuff, but I wasnt sure.
anyone know if it really is Eno?
OR... just what is it?

Following on from this thread - for those who haven't got the time to or actually want to /listen to the entire mix, I've cut out of some snippets for IDing:
Track 03: Listen on YouTube
Track 05: Snippet on zshare
ID'ed as Dave Angel - Patrice
Track 06: Listen on YouTube
Track 07: Listen on YouTube
Track 08: Listen on YouTube
Track 09: Listen on YouTube
Track 13: Listen on YouTube
Track 14: Listen on YouTube
Track 20: Listen on YouTube
Could be more than one composition playing here.
Track 22: Listen on YouTube
It's the violin piece I'm interested in IDing, ignore the other sounds layed over the top and the electric guitar of the previous track at the beginning and the other one coming in at the end. OK it's a classical piece not ambient but could easily fit inside any ambient set imo.
Track 23: Listen on YouTube
All from the same mix, though not all are ambient.
Thanks in advance. -

I thought this was a mysterious dvd but it's actually a mysterious 2 cd set of modular sounding noise. Anybody?
