DJ Harvey/ Black Cock Edit "Liftoman" - what's the original?

Been searching for the original of this classic Harvey edit for years. The most annoying thing is that the answer was once to be found in the track ID section of the old djhistory.com website. I even managed to track down an mp3 copy of the track. But the mp3 went out with a broken hard drive back some time in the late 2000s, the artist and title has since evaded my memory, so here I am again as naked as the day I was born.
All I is that "Liftoman" makes use of a small breaks section of the original, and if I'm not entirely mistaken there was a vocal on the original which is not in the edited version. My mind also tells me it was a psychedelic west coast jazz/soul group performing.
Ultimately my question is - does anybody know the original track title and artist?

Funny enuff UK legend Simon Lovejoy posted something on his BC page today: https://simonlovejoy.bandcamp.com/track/b-c-r
Photo says it all. DJ Harvey and myself in an icelandic hot spring 1990. I could write a book about the tunes I made with Harvey, the Black Cock records made in my front room all 3 ep's were all a blast to make. Mr Rooney never entered the building, his job was driving Harvey around in his cool BMW. No idea what one this is but they are all classics and another new sound with a superstar DJ born.
Guess dropping him a message on his BC page could be worth it ;0) -

The one in Lovejoy's bandcamp link is this one: https://www.discogs.sie.com/master/414746-Gaucho-Dance-Forever
Yeah, maybe I should drop him a line although if he doesn't know the Gaucho record I'd be pretty surprised if he knows the original of "Liftoman".
Thanks for the reply nontheless, appreciated! -

Been searching discogs up and down and in and out specifying various genres and
periods, so far without result. Tried to ask ChatGPT to check if there was a remote
chance for it to find any hidden posts revealing the seemingly unobtainable, and
funnily enough I was presented with some of the most ridiculous suggestions even
including a supposed track from 1995 (!) by Mick Harvey (!!) that doesn't even exist.
So much for the AI hype.
And yes, this is a bump. -

So, I'm lifting this in hopes of lifting the veil of the original Liftoman...
Have a wonderful day regardless! -

a long shot, but you could try browsing the old forum via the webarchive's wayback machine. this is a snapshot from 2012 https://web.archive.org/web/20120826204916/http://www.djhistory.com/forum/spotting
the search will likely not work...
or maybe other snapshots work better https://web.archive.org/web/20130701000000*/djhistory.com/forum -

I have tried that, but no luck. Thanks for the suggestion anyway! -
