BRIGHTER DEATH NOW
“People dislike me because I'm not completely like them,” sounds in the intro of 'Everything Is Gonna Be Alright', the most recent release from Brighter Death Now. This one-man expedition by Roger Karmanik — also co-founder of the Swedish record label Cold Meat Industry — becomes a two- or three-piece on stage, making the dark ambient and death industrial appear extra mesmerizing.
DESIDERII MARGINIS
From the Swedish wave of ambient acts of the 90s, Johan Levin, the mastermind behind Desiderii Marginis, has created and developed his own unique sonic palette that merges digital and analog: melancholic electronics with electro-acoustic elements and ingenious rhythms. With a dozen acclaimed albums on labels such as Cold Meat Industry, Kaosthetik Konspiration and Cyclic Law, Levin has more than made his mark.
RAISON D'ETRE
Peter Andersson is a busy boss, as evidenced by projects such as Deutsch Nepal and Raison d'Être. In the latter, dark ambient enters another dimension through drone synths, soundscapes and percussion, as well as church sounds and chanting. The French expression raison d'être appears in several languages and means something like 'reason to be'. Tonight is reason to be there.
