It looks like you have been put on CIP for mass-editing a label, and you must have received a lot of negative / votes for not complying with the mass-edition protocol and for not making verifiable the accuracy of your edits. Your other issues and submissions also lack legible images so they can be checked and voted on. Ask help from a mentor who could guide you and images in the releases to be voted on. You must receive at least four C votes to leave the CIP. Not much, good luck.

I got into CIP... Maybe because of this release: Boney M. - More Gold - 20 Super Hits Vol. II
By doing an advanced search, I couldn't find any other "problems", or I am not allowed to fix problems on given releases.

I landed in the CIP for two possible reasons and I need someone who knows more than I to confirm I'm making the correct decisions into repairing the one, or possibly both issues. First off, in the example linked below I am changing the ¥3,200 price from "Price Code" to "Other" as it seems it doesn't belong in in "Price Code" due to what other are telling me. Seems kind of silly to me being both an identifier and a price but I don't make the rules. Secondly, release dates on some Japanese 1980's CD releases have a for business only release date meaning public purchase is not allowed followed by the actual retail for public purchase release one year later. I was changing and putting in the real retail purchase release date and was again scolded by some for doing so even though there is nothing written in the rules regarding this at all. Help please and thanks very much.

You've landed in the CIP program because you received 3 EI votes recently, I'm not sure of the reasons, are there any relationship between these votes with these 'cosmetic' changes in BaOI - "Other (price) vs. Price Code" that you recently edited and for which you are now asking for positive votes? These do not seem to me strong enough reasons for such.

I think it's because of those two reasons as I honestly can't imagine anything else is amiss. With there not being any firm rules in place except for some opinions for what I'm asking and not agreeing with I'm not sure otherwise. It wouldn't surprise me that they were the ones who cast the votes that put me in the CIP commenting and changing a few of my Japan 1st CD submissions that I did change back. I tried to explain the why but apparently my factual reasons were not correct or fell on deaf ears. I just want to correct whatever is wrong and get off of the CIP so I can finish adding my collection but if no one really knows and the disgruntled voters do not respond, then what?

You must have been notified when the EI votes were cast to your submissions or edits, that communication is in your mailbox. Please copy from there the URLs and place them here. Only then will we be able to understand what has happened and how we can help you.

Honestly, it's no different than I've mentioned. Here's what I received and I'll do a follow up post with all of the submissions if you really feel it's necessary, but there are a lot. I just want to make certain what I'm doing is correct so I don't have to go back again and redo everything like I already did for FTF stating 1st Pressing in it only because I know they are and I thought they'd be easier for collectors and buyers to spot rather than buried in the notes. Oh, and still no what to correctly do with the dual dates I previously mentioned and zero mention of such in Discogs guidelines.

On these 3 examples you gave only on A Night At The Opera you've committed a mistake when added the 2nd cat# in the same field of the 1st, but it was a minor mistake, according to the voting guidelines RSG §20.2.5: "catalog number formatting > Needs Minor Changes".

Anyway, considering your current voting average and the number of votes you have, I believe that getting 13 Correct (and no NmC or NMC) votes will leave the CIP. I suggest you to ask for votes in simple releases where all linked data can be verified with clear images, avoiding controversial situations like these from Japanese 'Price Code / Other (Price)'.

How about grouping your submissions by country of origin? I really do not know much about the Japanese market, for example, and I do not feel comfortable analyzing a release from there, but US or Canadian releases seem more familiar to me.

Ok, I'll try this tomorrow which means I'll have to go through all of my 200+ submissions to provide a link here and relink and strike through any that have already been voted on. I'm not sure but I think I only need 5 more votes to hit lucky number 13 and hopefully be removed from the CIP.

Hi chums,

Been a for ~15 years, and occasional contributor. Not fully understanding the "Stereo" Channels tag on some recent submissions, a few of them were marked incorrect and I was put on CIP. I've gone back through all my submissions over the years to correct anything on them (I wasn't receiving notifications because I must have disabled those in my at some point in the last decade or so).

Anyways, that's my sob story. If I could get some help getting off CIP or further suggestions on any releases I've contributed to that'd be great.

Nothing specific, in fact, I did not even analyze them in detail. I only referred to the initial request for anyone who comes in this thread to ask for analysis and votes to leave the CIP, which is to not have "Needs Changes" on their Pending list.
Your situation is not difficult, because with only 2 votes Correct your average will rise to 3,07 and so you will leave the CIP. Fix any "Needs Changes" that you have and return by requesting analysis and votes for a short list of edits that you have made, well illustrated and of easy checking by the analyst who is willing to them.

Here's my weekly posting request to try to get off the CIP so I can be a useful contributor. The following link will show my submissions needing a vote.

I estimate that at least 50 "C" votes will be required for this. yes, when I go to TDream if I go to edit release it let me get in, but if I try to edit images it says "You are currently on the Contributor Improvement Program (CIP) and cannot have more than three pending submissions."

s on CIP can not add or edit images. You can link the images you're intending to on Submission Notes of your edition, using a Imgur-type link so other s can open it and check for the correctness of your edition.

It seems your wasn't blocked because your bad average but for other reasons manually.
With an average of 3,0 you don't come to CIP and a better one won't change a bit I suppose.
You should file a Request directly to staff https://.discogs.sie.com/ to change your situation I guess.

Ah, was able due to 3 more 'corrrect' votes (thanks) to correct again only one(!) of my incorrect marked submissions in The Who - Who's Next has been corrected now.
So I got no Diognes_The_Fox).

As I mentioned in Forum Thread #775514, the program is conflicting itself giving no help, no central forum to get it (or might this be the one?) and no way to way to edit your mistakes unless you got votes...
For example; searching the forum gives you 11,018(!) hits of whom most are closed... Maybe there is some ~ nice and anonymous ~ 'staff' improvement needed here? See my open letter to them.

Anyway, this is what I can do, like they say: unhappy collecting!

You have at least one edit to fix - and other where no 'needs changes' votes have been cast, but comments / suggestions for changes have been made - before posting here asking for analysis and votes on your subs/edits.
A big list is not attractive to anyone. If possible, specify the type of help you need, so you can get a mentor. You can ask for help in releases by the musical genre, by the predominant language or country of origin, by labels or even by the artist, if your submissions have these characteristics.

Can someone look into my 'needs vote' contributions? Most of them are corrected now and others I cannot correct being not the last editor.

RSG §21 Once on the CIP, the will be limited to a total of three contributions waiting for votes at any one time.

I'm not sure but contributions probably include submissions and edits. You have 339 pendings at the moment.

Regarding your average vote rating, maybe the "last 10 days" rating is still too low.

If you are still in the CIP with an average of 3.26 is because the reason for its inclusion was not a succession of negative votes but a behavioral problem. I believe that positive votes will not make you leave the CIP, but rather the ission of your faults and change of attitude in the relationship with those who comment, edit or vote in your editions.

I don't think it is behavioural, lbamaral I think it is frustration, just search the forums over here and you could see what I mean....

Now let me get this straight: If you look into my 339+ submissions of which I got until recently 3 'Needs Minor Changes' and 17 'Entirely Incorrect' votes over the last eight(!) years. And even the ones voted correct like Det Är Jag Som Är Döden eight years ago, are still in my 'submission list'?
Further more; if you look into the first 'Entirely Incorrect' vote the was given to me in: Various - Liquid Sky Berlin Vol.1 (The Mothership Has Landed) and immediately followed by 16 'Entirely Incorrect' votes for related artist. In the comment you will see:

I'm sorry I did not know that one, I followed RSG §2.5.11. and thought it was also correct here...

In the source http://www.blim.fr/index_1.htm given an artist like Dr. Walker, the last one mentioned as "the head of Liquid Sky Berlin", so not all artist in the release might be member of this artist group as I assumed, OK. But then my assumption based on the collective website and youtube channel was already rejected and reverted immediately. So I replied:

Also I don't like the way this Contributor Improvement Program or CIP is working being thrown in it with no clear answers and apparently having to correct all the imperfections in a release or an artist before you get a correct vote.
Now, do I have an attitude or behavioural problem complaining about that? I don't know, I just try to be fair, so I don't think so. If someone can't coop with that then tell and ban me for it, but be fair and tell me directly (face to face), not anonymous like this CIP-thing.
In short: I can understand your frustration as guardians of this database, having to coop with probably a lot of this 'vandalism' according to the reactions given. But can you understand mine? Thanks!

As I recall my last 10 days rating has been below 3 yesterday now it is 3.02 thanks to a lot of correct votes I got recently thanks for that!

PS. My average vote now is: 3.30 and my last 10 day average 3.33, I think both must be over 3.00 and it also seams your last 10 day average must be greater than your average vote (yesterday mine was 3.02).
This might be helpful in case someone else wants to know how many correct votes he or she needs to collect to get out of the CIP (RSG §21) ~ just an assumption, no guarantees given. ~
