I seem to be going round in circles and failing to correct a couple of things on the Discogs page which features an ancient (1980!) recording my band took part in (https://www.discogs.sie.com/master/337558-Various-First-Offenders). The track has been attributed to another band of the same name and ours is not listed on Discogs. How do I go about fixing this, establishing our (brief) existence and reclaiming our credit? When I make edits, the page doesn't seem to accept the changes.

So your band was "The Red Squares"?
    And so it's not https://www.discogs.sie.com/search?q=red+squares&type=artist&strict=true

You should find the first available numeric suffix for "The Red Squares", which right now is "The Red Squares (6)" and edit the releases on which your band appear to use the (6) suffix. That will automatically create the new profile. You should then add to that profile the profiles of band if they exist on discogs, and add a bit of text (without hyperbole) so that other s can distinguish the band from other bands without too much confusion.

You're welcome. I misspoke (mis-wrote?) above - in fact you should add the name of the band to the "In groups" section of the profile for each band member. A former band member can be added by suffixing the band name in that section with " [[X]]" (see RSG §18.5.5).
Doing it that way allows the database to link up correctly.
