I got added to the CIP program because I made releases that I didn't own. They exist, but I didn't own them. You guys can vote to remove them, it's okay. Once I'm off the CIP program I will not continue doing that, I'll have to save them somewhere else. I already posted a thread a month ago but I really want to add my scans for albums and like fix labels and credits. I won't make any more releases unless I have it in my possession.
If you guys can't vote to delete them how can I? I go to my submissions and it's super long with stuff I just edited, not made. Now that I'm looking back at my really earlier releases some may not exist, but only a couple.

15.1.2. Releases should only be removed from the Database if they are invalid. For example, they don't exist or they don't contain enough information to identify them as a valid unique release.

15.1.3. Releases should not be removed because they were entered without the submitter having the release (websubmission).

Your average vote is 2.62 / 48 votes. When the average is >3.00, you'll be off CIP. Any "correct" vote = 4 points.

Making a new to avoid being in CIP will get you banned from the site, so I wouldn’t do that.

It makes complete sense. If people submit images of the exact copy they have in their hands, they can confirm the exact details - and therefor make the database correct. Instead of googling an image and assuming it's "probably okay" and making the database a complete mess.

  • Show this post
Well in my opinion, I mostly collect CDs that are super rare to obtain, and most people gatekeep the scans and files unless you pay them money, when we can easily find the cover of the CD online, or via their old website I think we should put it up. Especially having lots of super low quality pictures on discogs, simply putting the spotify cover which is most likely the same thing just 640x640 and way better quality is so much easier and better.

Just to make sure we are clear, you are no longer ing images you found off the internet, and are disabling the previous ones you ed that were ones you found from the internet, correct?

If not, please make sure that is your priority.

And to emphasize what was said earlier, it's fine to have an opinion on how things should be done but we do things based on how the guidelines say they should be done. The guidelines trump our individual opinions of how things should work here.

In another thread you said, "all of the releases I made I don't own." but in this thread you said, "all of my images are taken from the internet. Besides the CDs I actually own." Either way, please disable all images you added that you didn't take yourself of a release in your possession.

What do you mean web sourced image

Images taken from some site on the internet. If you an image to a release it must be an image taken by you, and it must be of the exact version you're ing it to. If there are multiple pressings of a release, make sure you're editing the one you have.

The only time you don't have to take a photo or scan yourself is when you are adding an image to a File release - then you must use the image in the ed files.

If you aren't able to follow those rules, or a File doesn't have an image, just don't one. An image is very helpful, but not mandatory. An image of a different version is a nightmare to sort out, leads to errors, and increasingly gets other s boiling with rage.

You don't need to agree with the rule, or like it. You just have to follow it.

    It's not web sourced

I don't know which one you're referring to, I was just answering that one question.

FYI, images also must not be photoshopped to "look really nice". You can straighten up a scan or photo, and you can crop the image, but the image needs to represent how the release really looks. Maybe if you're smartening them up too much then people might be disabling them because that makes them look like a mock-up image.

    It's not web sourced

There are a lot of cases here where people break the rules and use images from ebay listings. It looks like you did this on Finding Ghosts - Finding Ghosts EP and felt you had used another picture from an ebay listing for whatever reason. I reverse image searched it and didn't find it so I'm not sure what evidence he has for this.

To make this easier Rydreer, when you submit an edit with a picture, I recommend you state in the submission notes that you took the picture of the release in hand. One-word comments like "Created" don't tell us much. And if someone disables your image with a comment "disabled web-sourced image RSG §3.1.4", when you respond with "???" and just re-enable it that isn't a great look. If you reenable it, tell us why. Say "I took this picture of the release I own." If that is really the case then it won't be a problem.

isn't the exact requirement but you need the physical item (or file) in your possession to make a Submission. I have made many Submissions of releases that I had "borrowed" but the point is that the release should be in your possession at the time you make the submission. RSG §1.1.1

    Idk
I’ve just googled some forums about deleting releases, but the only forum i found was CIP
Btw this release is in drafts and you can see it in the database
But the delated releases i guess should have error 404, or shouldn’t be founded anywhere

You are still web-sourcing images. Please disable all web-sourced images (with a sub note explaining why, so people don't just re-enable them) and stop the practice of breaking guideline RSG §13.1.4: "Images of physical items must be taken by you and cannot be sourced from other websites or third party sources."
