Say what you will about the sound of 24 singles fit across 12 sides of vinyl, but musically this is my favourite compilation ever. It's flawless and beautifully packaged. And despite not being a 12x LP set, it doesn't sound bad at all for at-home enjoyment.
-
You seriously thought you were going to buy a box set to play out in the clubs. It’s a collectors item for enthusiasts, not a quick cash in for wannabe DJs
-
The sound of the original pressings have no problems, but they've compromised the sound quality on this release by cramming on too many track or not adding additional records to spread the tracks out.
Sound quality on a record starts to become compromised at around the 17 minute mark. The A side along clocks in at over 20 minutes, B at more than 19 minutes and the are other high play times across the compilation. -

People trashing the sound of this box need to pop off. Take some effort to understand the setting this music was recorded in and the machines that were used. I'm glad this shit isn't hyper compressed and "remastered". If you're a working DJ that can't play this, get better records and figure out how to do dynamics in your sets.

Edited 7 years agoIs the main complaint about the vinyl only that it's too quiet so you can't take it to clubs and that?
Regardless of how quiet it may be, is the sound quality decent; like if you turned it up a fair bit, could you still have a good listening experience? -
weak audio on vinyl. you'll have to push the gain 25% upwards when playing live, which sucks. anyway, a must have for those who like house music the way house is house. if you want to play this in a club you'll have to practice before, it's too weakly recorded. shame but...

For someone who was lucky enough to purchase Prescription the first time round can we have the Ron Trent Feat. Harry Dennis - Black Magic Woman on a seperate 1'' please? Can't justify owning all those records again for just one 12''.
-
I know this is Discogs, but can anyone speak to the quality of the digital version of this release? I bought the box and as most are saying, it is not for use by working DJ's. Is the digital?
-
Collector's item, not for working DJs. Pressing is way too quiet, I would not play this on a loud system unless the booth is absolutely pristine conditions.
