I think people have bad setups. Spun this using a ortofon blue cart and it sounds really good. I have the greatest hits which i was playing before this one and the difference is night and day. The greatest hits was really quiet and bland, almost like they were playing in anther room down the hall with both doors shut.
This was loud, clear, dynamic and no surface noise. I cleaned my record, it was still in shrink when I got it. -
Not the best pressing, though the hate is unwarranted. My copy is clear, no crackles or pops, and honestly sounds really good. It does have a little bit of a muffled quality due to it being a digitally sourced master rather than analog, but it’s probably the best quality there’s going be unless it randomly gets an actual quality repress which I highly doubt, though maybe in a few years for the 20th anniversary.

This is one of the worst sounding records I've ever owned. Audible distortion across every track that gets worse as it plays on.
This isn't "early 2000s digital compression." The album never sounded great, no, but this is another level of bad.
If you are going to shell out to own this album, buy the single LP original pressing. It isn't anything mind blowing, but it's listenable and not too much more expensive than this. -
this album is notoriously compressed and bad sounding lol, it aint gonna sound "good" [discogs standard good] on any format, any pressing. grab a copy if youre a fan of the band, but audiophiles are better off just buying the CD for $1 you will get the same sound.

I'm going to be completely honest. This is not the best sounding record out there, and no matter how many times it gets repressed, it will never sound good.
Now, that being said, I personally don't think it's a terrible pressing, it's just not the best sounding record (to say the least). Yes, it does sound somewhat flat and compressed, but to give it a fair review, this is the best this record will (probably ever) sound on a vinyl press, which is not that bad for a digital recording album released in early/mid 2005. -
What a terrible press. Save your money for when they decide to give this album a fair shot of a GOOD press.

Don't go into this looking for an audiophile experience by any means... but for the sale price on the HT website it's really not a bad price for a classic album. definitely don't play inflated discogs prices though

This pressing is a noisy mess by the end of each side. For a display piece, it looks great. For listening, it's no good.
