5 stars for the package. Very nicely presented in a thick, glossy tip on gatefold jacket just like back in the old days. Very attractive and very sturdy plus you also get a booklet with info and stories about the songs and the artists. Pics too. Now, as for the content, I found nothing here that I'd want to come back to but it's fascinating in a "shattered dreams" kind of way. Basically, it's a sub-par "Sweetheart of the Rodeo" and kind of sad, especially if you read the stories of the artists' high hopes for their music. Obscure singers on way obscure, one-off labels on records you'd find in a thrift shop or in a dumpster where, in fact, one or two of these artists did actually throw the master tapes and surplus stock of their very limited, self--financed pressings. No gold to be found here but a lot of broken hearts and crippled aspirations.... and for that reason, it's probably worth a listen. One could even label it "the real thing". -
