Reviewing every record in my collection;
Okay, so, after reading several reviews here on Discogs I went out of my way to specifically buy this pressing since, for what I've read, it's the best sounding one. And I don't doubt it one bit, Pressing is dead silent after a quick clean with a wet cloth and then, the electronics on this sound out of this world; every detail can be felt and it just has an overall warm and wide soundstage. My main complains are two; first, and following the sound quality comment, the more rocky songs (Tabú, Puente or Paseo Inmoral) don't sound as great as the rest of the album; the bass or drums sound a bit messy and not as good as I'd like to, which isn't a big deal since they still sound really good, but the overall mix doesn't help these tracks as they do help the rest of the album (I'd say Raíz and YSEHEEF are the biggest stand outs when talking about quality)
Then, my second complaint is with the quality of the printing and material itself; Disc one came slightly warped out of the box (Which isn't a problem cause it plays fine, but that's already a bad sign) and the cardboard and inner sleeves themselves are of very low quality; Paper thin and damaged from the get go, plus they all came with signs of ring ware plus some creases on the spine.
Over all, sound wise it's a 9/10 for me, but the pressing itself due to the printing quality is an 8/10 -
Vinyl sounds great and have no complaints except for one issue. As far as I can tell, the run out groove seems to be mispressed - the needle always goes one round in the innermost groove and then jumps out and skates into the label. This has happened with two copies that I bought (and no other record that I own so I’m certain it’s just this record). Does anyone else have this issue?

Sounds good but nothing too special, good pressing but not phenomenal, only really few pops or anything

Edited 4 years agoJust gave my GZ Media version of Bocanada a spin. It sounds really good, no issues with surface noise, good soundstage and mastering. First disc came just a bit warped while Side A had a few clicks and pops when played, but nothing really bothering. The rest sounded almost dead silent. Anyone in Argentina who buys a fresh repress of this album will likely end up with a national pressing (therefore, non-GZ Media) marred with issues that are a lot worse than the ones I just described, so be careful. Try looking in the back cover for a "vinyl made in Czech Republic" label before buying.

Edited 5 years agoIt's been 20 years since the original release of this gem. It´s really nice hearing it on vinyl. It claims it was remastered for vinyl by the original engineer Eduardo Bergallo and to my ears sounds great. The Czech pressing is not good: slightly warp, surface noise, clicks, pops (GZ media I guess), that is why I´m giving only 4 stars.
