This is so unbelievably bright that it hurt my ears. I had to close the door and listen from another room. Im not sure what was the decision behind this mastering but it certainly wasn’t a good one. The second disc is an honest novelty. Cool for those who like fergie but its never being played on my end. Avoid and buy an original which goes for the same price as this one does -
Anyone who grew up in the 80s re Michael Jackson doing the Moonwalk on live TV at the Motown tribute show during his performance of Billie Jean. Who would have thought that a man moving backwards would take such a huge leap forward in his career with Thriller? Off the Wall is a very solid album, but it's tame and for lack of a better word "nice." Thriller was not. From the opening of WBSS through the rest of the original tracks, MJ shows why he was the King of Pop. Classic tracks like Thriller, Beat It, and Billie Jean are excellent presentations of the song. They are punchy and full, and mixed very well. There are many version of this record on vinyl, to me, this is the best one. The bonus tracks are curiosities, ones that do not really add anything to the album, and will likely be skipped on subsequent visits to the records. But if you are looking for a strong listening experience for what is one of the greatest records of all time, without spending a fortune on issues, this is the one for you.

Edited 6 years agoTerrible pressing, in my opinion. Very, very loud mixing, and highly sibilant. I'm honestly considering purchasing an older version of just the standard album. In all honesty, the bonus tracks aren't even that great.
