Notes
1st UK issue
Vertigo ''large swirl'' label - with the wording ''Vertigo'' credited below the spindle hole on B-side label.
Matte gatefold sleeve - with the credits mentioning ''Management / Jim Simpson, Big Bear, Birmingham''
This was withdrawn almost immidiately after it was issued, due to contractual disputes between the band and Big Bear.
2nd UK issue was immidiately released without management credits inside gatefold sleeve. This is the only difference between 1st and 2nd UK issue. 2nd UK issue here: Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Read about it here: https://rarerecordscollector.com/vertigo/6360-011-black-sabbath-paranoid/
Catalogue number 6360 011 appears on B-side label, spine and rear of sleeve above VO PRICE CODE.
Recorded at Regent Sound and Island Studios.
All compositions published by Essex Music Int. Ltd.
℗1970
Note:
There is no break in between the tracks "Hand of Doom" and "Rat Salad" - i.e. looks as though there are only three tracks on B-side of the record when there are actually four (see pic).
Runouts on all variants are stamped, typical for Phonodisc cuts and pressings.

Too many sellers listing 2nd pressings under this 1st pressing (Management credits) category. They then play dumb when called out. Misadvertising release and condition is a real problem on Discogs. Buyers beware — get good photos in advance.

Very few comments about SQ here so I'll add one. I have this one, the //1 Big Bear, a //2 (3rd press swirl), KG 2006, US Quad and US CSM Greenie. This one, the Big Bear is the king and here is why: This one will knock your house down if you have the system for it (meaning low end reproduction) and still has kick ass mids and highs which are just right for high volume listening - yes the highhat is buried at the beginning of War Pigs and that could be better but overall this is one of my favorite hard rock records. I have only owned mine for about a week and a LOL every time I blast it (90-96 DBs). It is one of the most powerful pressings I own.
The //2 sounds the same as the //1 *except* it lacks the power and impact of the //1 - meaning the mids and highs are about the same. It sitll has great bass, but not OMG bass and impact.
The KG is fantastic but on my system the highs have me reaching for the volume control when cranked. And of course not the power of the Big Bear //1. Love the mids on this one though just like:
The Greenie Quad is a fun listen, esp for Tony's guitar. If the Big Bear is the Bill and Geezer edition, this one is the Tony edition. Really cool and great sounding record.
IMO / YMMV -
Can someone please share a picture of the label with no break in between the tracks "Hand of Doom" and "Rat Salad"? There's no pictures on Discogs showing this, even though it says so in notes, can't find anything on Ebay either.. :)

Hi, i got copy of Paranoid Vinyl with green shadowing front cover in Vertigo logo and text. Anobody knows what version is it?

Edited one year agoBeware! Marketplace and sales history are flooded with obvious fake listings from new s that sell this sought after release for ~$20–$50 in VG+ condition. These scam listings have increased recently, Discogs should do something about it. Note that price statistics are not reliable at the moment.

I have variant 7. However, the last number in the run-out of the B-side of my record is a 9. I think it's upside down, so that should be the 6. Could that be possible?
-
Would you nincompoops out there stop falling for the $20 scams on this? How can you be so damn thick.

I have two copies of the first pressing with the Big Bear Credits. One has white lettering on the spine, the other has red lettering. I know this is the section for reviews, but since other people also discuss pressing details here, I thought it might be okay to ask my question here: has anybody else noticed that there are versions with different color lettering on the spine?

I have the exact same album in same condition. Why are some 70 and some 600? How do you know how to price?
