I would call this a post-punk album first before I would call it punk or new wave. And that’s not a knock on the album, which is wildly underrated.

Does anyone know the story here? This is such a hugely important band and an overlooked classic album and it's not even on streaming. The Plugz entire catalog needs the royal reissue treatment right away!

I struggle with it - I *have* the Cruzados album with "Blue Sofa" on it, but I like the version on this album so much better, because for reasons unknown, Tito changed the lyric from "still an idiot" to "still a fool." I like idiot better, but can't give a good reason why - it just SOUNDS better (and is a bit edgier). Why the change? (And ya, needs a proper re-release)

Edited 5 years agoOne of the hidden gems of the 80's due to such small exposure and distribution. El Clavo Y La Cruz was featured on the seminal Repo Man soundtrack as well as some excellent ambient tracks by the band. RIP, Charlie Quintana!
