a truly phenomenal piece of work. d'angelo's album is the closest thing we have to a 2014 marvin gaye or stevie wonder's late 60s through late 70s seminal work. 5/5 stars.

15 years and nothing has really changed for him. This album is just as good, if not better than Voodoo.. The sound is the same, though a bit more refined. Together with his band The Vanguard (which contains some over qualified musicians), he has crafted an album that blows anything barely competitive away.. I been listening to many great album this year and D´Angelo just fly by suddenly and drops this surprisingly at the end of the year..How dare he be away for so long and come back and do an album like this? So good it´s down right ridiculous. I just feel like hating him for it.. Go home.. Who deserves a masterpiece like this? no one..
