A bit of a right-turn towards the mainstream for Laurie, who dials down the weirdness and actually sings on this album. With the help of former Dire Straits engineer/producer Neil Dorfsman on mixing duties, she also sculpts something that is aurally rich and detailed.

Some people preferred her when she was less accessible (as on "Big Science", "Mister Heartbreak" etc.) so this album was not a massive success in 1989.

Referring to Laurie Anderson - Strange Angels - the Alsdorf cut and pressing is a really nice one from the tail end of "vinyl's first coming". There's quite a lot of music to fit onto an LP, but the vinyl mastering engineers have done a good job and it never sounds emaciated.
