Notes
Mono Masters was cut for vinyl by using a completely analogue signal path and with constant reterence to the original cutting notes made for the first pressings of the records included in this compilation. It has been made with current technology and without imposing the restrictions necessitated by the limitations of record players in the 1960s. Consequently, this album reveals more of the content of the audio on the master tapes.
The tracks on Mono Masters come from a variety of sources, including single and EP tracks, so it was necessary to compile a new analogue master tape. To avoid the risk of damaging the original masters by removing tracks from their original reels and then returning them, these tapes were copied to a new cutting master created for this release. The master tape for 'Love Me Do' was not kept so a digital copy of a vinyl disc was used.

Bit of sibilance on a few tracks on record 2. They also are a bit too bright sounding overall (Hey Jude especially has ear-piercing cymbals)
-
As other comments have said, sound quality is phenomenal, hopefully one day Apple reissues this set as these reseller prices are definitely too much

Edited one year agoMy (sealed) copy had two of the third vinyl. So I’m missing vinyl 2 (sides 3 & 4). Anyone have the opposite problem?

Sounds brilliant and looks really nice. A phenomenal collection of songs, too. Certainly better mixes found here than on Past Masters. Highly recommended!

IMHO, The Holy Grail. I was 16 years old when The Beatles released "Please Please Me" in 1963. There music has been a huge part of my life, and hopefully the lives of my children, ever since. This album is probably the most loved record in my collection. It's a beautiful presentation of The Beatles music, in it's most personal format, mono/vinyl, and is straight from the heart. I bought it last June, right here on Discogs for $185 USD/$254 CDN., delivered. It's easily the most expensive album in my collection, and I don't regret spending one single penny. If I didn't own it already, and I knew exactly how it would feel if I did own it, there's no telling how much I'd be willing to spend on it. What else can I say?

Incredible sound quality / packaging and pressing. A lot of time and care went into this release, and it shows. Just stump up your cash - you’ll be glad you did.

Edited one year agoMan. This thing sounds absolutely incredible...one of the best sounding records I have.
This record forced me to continue snatching up these 2014 monos. The punch hits you in the chest
I paid $70 couple months ago..not worth a penny more than that. Don’t entice these flippers. -
A tremendous pressing. I didn't go in with any expectations, but ended up sitting there with my mouth open as I started hearing new aspects to very familiar recordings. 'Hey Jude' in particular - not my favourite track - but the cello towards the end really stood out in a way I've never heard.

Edited 2 years agoWas very excited to get that vinyl but I was disappointed... WHY NO "Old Brown Shoe" and "The Ballad Of John And Yoko" ?
Was it so complicated to make it complete.... Pffff, pissed off !
So which version does eventually contain all the singles ?
if someone has the answer please !
Cheers
