This is NOT " soft rock" folks !!!!!
I don't or daren't edit the description but can someone who knows please alter it ?
That classification is absolutely incorrect for this record or any of their 1970- 1978 output. Sure it could probably apply to the latter period Quo, but I guarantee to anyone who hears it, you will 100% agree with me/ us it is just not soft or easy rock ?!?!
This is almost heavy thrash rock due to the alleged amounts of coke and speed that certain were taking. It's played at a very fast pace, similar pace to Lemmy era Hawkwind. We all should know that story, right.
May I recommend to anyone who only thinks of Quo based upon Margarita Time or In the Army Now to listen or even go and purchase the UK first vinyl pressings from Ma Kelly's Greasy Spoon thru Pile driver, Hello, Quo, On The Level, Blue For You and finally this beauty "Live". My God this is hard rock of the highest order. It is not just three chord 12 bar boogie, listen to Backwater from Quo or Little Lady/ Most of the Time from On The Level, sheer hard rock class. On a par with The Who, Sabbath, Deep Purple, Rainbow and even Zeppelin, yes why not say that For after Physical Graffiti even Sep went downhill to never recover. I jest not ! Quo were a class act , narrow parameters sure, but look at AC/DC ?
Maybe it's because the Yanks never took to them that they remained a mainly European/ Australian phenomenon, I dunno. You could write a book on this subject but Quo need a rethink a bit like Space do too. Listen to Space Alive and you'll see what I mean, their albums up to Space in Flame are sheer class but today are known For that crap Xmas song only. Listen to How Does It Feel and tell me what you think. It's on the In Flame album.
For an example, just listen to the full album intro of Mystery Song on Blue For You. Natch ?!?!
Believe it or not the week before this l.p.was released John Peel, the famous indie loving DJ played the entire album over the course of , I think, two nights. Those were his pre new wave days when he even used to have Judas Priest in for his famous Peel Sessions.
I hearing it and being blown away by the furious nature of their live sound. It really rocks in that Quo boogie style but with an edge that was mostly missing on their studio lps, apart from that beauty " Quo" album. For me the diamond in their crown.
Please take time to listen closely to this excellent live album.
Along with Live In The Airage by Be Bop Deluxe these are two essential live albums of the latter 70s era. For the earlier era then consider Hawkwind The Space Ritual along side that brilliant live album from Barclay James Harvest , listen to the final song called Mockingbird. Blimey what a moving song with such doomy mellotron.
Sorry for rambling and going off topic.

Why on earth is this described as 'soft rock'? Obviously by someone who's never heard it or is clueless.
