This is my favourite electronic or "techno" album. All the individual tracks are great of themselves, and they combine beautifully as an album that takes you in different directions, without lacking cohesion. The production is jaw-droppingly good - the material was very original for the times, and I think it still stands up pretty well these days. Certainly, Warp haven't put out many LP's better than this one, I hope it gets a decent repress sometime (maybe by some other company, as Warp represses aren't exactly famous for their quality ;)

Definitely an "Advance" on their first LP, "Frequencies" in style, production, originality with a different atmosphere all while being instantly recognizable as LFO. Don't get me wrong, Frequencies is stunning bleep techno, Advance is an improvement in a different direction.
For me "Shove Piggy Shove" is the standout track, full of deep groovy bass, shuffling snares and a lead that's achingly beautiful. So good that Bjork used this track for herself.
I think this has a warmer feel compared to the robotic funk of their first LP.

A much dumber version of myself ed on this when it came out. I have been kicking myself ever since I eventually realized how good it was.

A landmark release - a landmark album - both for WARP - the 90s - and LFO. A 1 of a kind. An essential listen or 2 or 3 by anyone into electronic and electro and techno - take time and check it. Proud owner of the vinyl since it dropped. Made during the golden era. Orbital and FSOL fans will like it. There's a couple standout dance jams with a distinct heavy LFO edge. Superb production and matsering - as expected, by who's involved. 8.5/10

A really superb album. This is the best I've heard from lfo. I like it way more than the 'freak' stuff they release nowadays (2003). The album has a unique atmosphere that I find hard to describe, it's something outta space, a real trip. But it's not only listening pleasure, there are some really slamming dancefloor tracks on it as well. Also the album as a whole is quite enjoyable in the way the tracks follow and complement eachother. If I would ever have to get rid of all my records apart from one this is probably the one I'd keep...
