Edited one year agoDefinitely recommend this one if it's a bargain!
Aside from those reissues with RVG or VAN GELDER stamps, UA's reissues usually provide really clear and crisp sound quality compared with other reissues, especially non-RVG Liberty copies. I just compared this one with the legendary GXK reissues and I'm quite surprised to see how this UA copy holds up with the GXK. Yes GXK is way louder than the UA but at the cost of muffling the trumpet, losing a lot of the air and emotions during the trumpet solo. UA copy on the other hand has a really wide soundstage, a bit too far for my personal taste but the clarity of each instrument is clear like water. The biggest downside is the lack of loudness, which can be easily fixed by turning up the volume a bit (of course if the vinyl is in bad shape I wouldn't recommend to do so).
With Blue Note record prices skyrocketing, prices of black or white note UA reissues without RVG are also getting higher. Buy it if happen to find one with good price! This one is also no exception. RECOMMENDED!
