I'm just reminded how great a version of Solar this is - - compare the version he did in the mid-80s in Japan (availalbe on yourtube). Wildly different but totally enthralling, both of them. Genius. Oh and the rest of the tunes rock as well. Saw him at Carnegie Hall, 2013.

Why isn’t this on vinyl? The best later trio recording, and would be a perfect fit for LP.

Jarrett is alleged to have said that material does not matter, implying that he could play anything and make it good. Well, that's complete crap and this album proves it. The finest moment here is Jarrett's brilliant original "Everywhere." It's entrancing, cutting-edge jazz, straight from the heart. The rest of the album is standards; I could take it or leave it. They're all performed impeccably, but each one of them became standards long before I was even born. They don't have the energy of Jarrett's own compositions.
