due to the highly variable nature of beatles vinyl releases and used records in general, it is not possible to comment on the quality of the record and expect that to apply to other people's experiences. i have a later version of this UK mono pressing, it was likely manufactured in the late sixties, due to an ad on the inner sleeve for "Lennon and McCartney, TIjuana Style", released in 1969.
As with most Beatles albums, the original UK mono pressings are usually the best way to hear what the band intended the audience to hear. Of course, the stereo mixes were usually an afterthought. This one is no exception. The problem with Revolver is that it came at a time when recording technology was becoming more complex, and they themselves were pushing and stretching the limitations of recording to their absolute limits. Because of this, Revolver has a naturally harsher sound compared to other albums. Because they were constant innovators in the studio, many of the recording techniques used were in their very primal stages.
All this to say, my copy sounds terrible but I'm glad to have it regardless. -
What is the difference between this release and https://www.discogs.sie.com/The-Beatles-Revolver/release/5405446 ?
