First review spot on....dated, boring,simplistic, truly horrid vocal snatches. Thank goodness his work vastly improved later !...avoid this one.

Pretty bad. The production and beats have imho dreadfully aged. The levitation we ar usually treated with most Jon Hassell records is almost totaly absent here, except from moments in the closing track, Blue Night. -

The adage you get what you pay for is not not true in the case of this recording. Don't spend your money on the over priced recordings of Mr. Hassell until you get this one.Hubert1978 comments accurately sum up what you get here, even though deep listening shows this music transcends labels. This and Flash of the Spirit are my favorite recordings of his.

Edited 2 years agoExactly my thoughts. After first being introduced to Hassell in the 80's with the stellar Power Spot, I didn't hesitate to grab subsequent releases, including this, which as you state, looks straight into the future. It's a one-off gem collaboration with like-minded musicians that still sounds ahead of the time. -
No comments? What a masterclass material! Fantastic fusion of instrumental hip hop, future jazz, trip hop, breakbeat. High level album from the guy, who is really talented, really creative & just uncompromised artist. Perfect, just perfect.
