this pressing has a true dedicated mono mix (there is an extra time at the end of the Yesterdays papers), while I have another Canadian mono pressing on the maroon labels which is actually a fold-down mono from the stereo mix. wandering why nobody didnt put any comments on this yet ; ) and if its claimed that all us mono versions are fold-downs does this make this Canadian pressing unique and rare? Yesterdays Papers is not the only song where you can tell the difference, this is an interesting mix.

Edited 4 years agoOne of the last albums to have Brian Jones’ fingers all over it, you're really reminded about what a tinkering genius he was with defining the sound of the Stones in the 1960s, and how ultimately it could never last. He was too playful and too erratic for what would be needed to push the Stones into their next destination as rock gods. At the end of the day, it was always Mick & Keith writing the songs, but it was in Brian's laboratory. As far as albums that Brian Jones had influence on, I'd say this was his best. So many hits here, and each track has little flourishes throughout that makes them quirky and signature. "Satanic Majesties" would take the Stones on a one-off course, and then afterward with Beggars Banquet you were quickly losing Brian Jones’ influence. Just look at how stoned he is on the front cover of Between the Buttons to get a sense of where things were headed. So here he is, at his most genius I'd say.
