Yes I love Energy Flash as it's a track from my youth (still hits today) but this whole EP for me is the best thing that Beltram ever released and for the love of all things why did he not make Last Voyage lonnnnnnngggger - I actually heard the "string" part at the end used in a set by Slam at the Arches in Glasgow, early 90's - amazing (also his EVIL A.D. release - same year has one track that is very much same sound as this EP) - just wish he had explored this sound direction more.

Try playing After Life at 33 rpm.. It's so good I can't listen to it at 45 anymore

This whole record is drenched in melancholy sounds. Code 6 is a US police response code meaning "Responding from a long distance". I wonder if the sound and the name of this record are intertwined with eachother and maybe have a (personal) deeper meaning for Joey Beltram. Maybe someday we will know...

Will there ever be a better track than Code 6 - Last Voyage?

I love all of this EP by Joey..But I really love Tempest ...
Why? Because it's like a beautiful nod and a wink to Richard D James..

              Mutual respect has power!

Also I am pretty certain that if I played this out anywhere and anyone came up and said what track is this by Aphex Twin and I said it's by Joey Beltram it would get either a 'I understand look' or a 'what did he just tell me look' equally..

Ps if you haven't the 12" by Evil A.D.
              Then please check it out!

              It's another surprise by Joey.

              PEACE ;)

Last Voyage is sci-fi techno of the highest order and the choice cut on this 12" Essential.

Inspired by the new sounds coming from the UK from acts like the Black Dog and Aphex Twin, Joey had some divine moments at On-One studios, thus creating his most beautiful, atmospheric tunes ever. Innovative breakbeat patterns and multiple layers of strings lead the way.
Allright Joey, take off your hard hoovertechno hat and look into the future ! You won't be disappointed.
