I just found a 1969 Winchester US copy of Piper with the colorful labels. Only $15 and the cover is in real good shape. I was shocked to see it and expected the record to be trashed but it is very nice. I have had Nice Pair for 40+ years but I have never or maybe once seen a copy of Piper in the wild. If I did it was a first press and the price was out of my league. I have yet to play it as I just got home with it and came on here to which press I had. I found this at one of those antique shops where everything is way over priced. So I was flabbergasted at finding this for only $15. Later all.

Like a lot of US Capitol records in the 60s, it features a unique track list from the UK Columbia version. I definitely prefer the original mono mix over the stereo, but considering how difficult it is to get your hands on an original mono, if you're looking for a rare copy of Piper for a little less than that, this is a cool pressing to find. I got mine for 60 at a record shop in NYC. The fake stereo of See Emily Play, however, frankly ruins a classic Syd song. The rest of the album are the original UK stereo mixes. The audio is alright (I compared this to my 2016 euro stereo repress).

Really cool original US version of the album. Only downside is that instead of Astronomy Domine, Flaming, and Bike, they replaced it with See Emily Play. Still though very rare pressing and I am very lucky to have found a cheap copy of this version. I'd say get this version if you can get your hands on it, and if you really want the UK pressing, get A Nice Pair by Pink Floyd. It comes with both Piper, and A Saucerful of Secrets. And it is the original Piper tracklisting. I love all versions of Piper! This one is still very interesting and sounds amazing!
