Pink Floyd – Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII

I am fortunate to have a good copy. My hype sticker ends with S1 so this listing is correct for me. Visually the vinyl is not pristine. I see a few scuffs and marks. Audibly there is occasional faint surface noise only noticeable between songs and during the quiet parts. I feel it is a little but more noticeable than it would be but this record requires one to turn up the volume higher than usual. None of that is a problem. The pressing in my opinion is fantastic. It just sounds really good on my system. I love having new versions of pink floyd songs that I have listened to many, many times over the years.

Don't believe it's just the US pressings that are poor quality. My UK pressing was marked with scuffs and scratches straight out of the wrapper and played with noise and clicks throughout. It also had a ingrained mark in Echoes which caused an unlistenable knock for quite a few rotations. One of the worst quality vinyl records, new or old, that I've purchased in a long while. Currently awaiting a replacement as I certainly wasn't happy with paying good money for something this low quality.

Add mine to the list of duds. I will say that the musicality of this record is fantastic. Even better than I was expecting in all honesty. The pressing, however, is pure crap, and I find myself in the unenviable position of having to spring for a European release because Sony didn’t have the good sense to press everything out of RI. There are a few fantastic pressing plants stateside and they chose one of the absolute worst to print this record. What a shame.

The mix itself sounds great overall. I've always loved the movie and I can hear so much more detail on this vinyl than what I in the DVD which I've watched many times. There are some aspects I don't like. The cymbals in "Careful With That Axe Eugene" are very harsh and almost ruin the whole experience. "One of These Days" has a period of time when some weird buzzing is audible behind the distorted guitar.

I bought two copies of this US pressing. One had an audible scuff right at the beginning of side A, the second had a bad scuff during an important moment partway through Side A. Sides C/D on both copies were off center and had a serious ripple though it wasn't audible. One Copy side C had a scuff right at the start of the 2nd track and a number of audible scratches on Echoes. Unfortunately Ill have to pick my poison on these and just return the worst of the two. Disappointing.

When I first bought this I was reading reviews for the European release and didn't realize there were two separate pressings. Based only on reviews I'd recommend getting the European version and wish I had done so.

After a nice clean, this record actually sound really damn good. I had a bunch of surface noise right out of the shrink, but a long clean helped to lower it, However the edges of record 1 are badly cut, and could slice my hand open when trying to pull off the turntable.

Mine is the one with hype sticker ending in S1, therefore the GZ pressing according to the info here. It sounds magnificent. No issues at all. A beautiful heavy vinyl with nice packaging. The record has a deep powerful sound with a very good separation of instruments. As many here, I've been waiting for this for years... and now I'm more than satisfied. Best of all it came as a gift...

Both discs play perfectly clean and quietly right out of the sleeve. Sound quality is great, and yes, I have the US pressing where the hype tag shows ''S1'',

My records had a few light clicks here and there. I cleaned them with the HumminGuru Nova and they play perfectly now.
Very impressed with the mix!

My copy had some light surface noise, but a Spin Clean and a vacuum cleaning removed all the noise. Great pressing.

Folks. It seems like that there is something wrong with my copy. Because it sounds amazing, clear, no noise and very dynamic. I was really surprised reading all these comments and reviews and it was a little scary checking mine. IDK what is going on with yours copies but this pressing is just amazing. And I even have not cleaned it with the ultra sound yet. Im sure after I get it cleaned it will sound even better since all static will go away. Highly recommend to get it!!!
