Edited one year agoessential cd for any collection, this is one hell of an album to get lost in. perfect for pitch black and cold winter nights. engaging beyond belief, it truely lives up to its name as I feel I really am listening to a soundtrack to some nightmarish but beautiful film playing out in my subconscious as the album plays out. the first disc feels like a perfect complete experience in and of itself with the second having more valleys then peaks and not as engaging but still very good. the dynamics in sound is great and I am surprised how detailed the sound is on my stereo system and in particular the stereo imaging, the guitars on helpless child are astounding in that regard.

Is there a separate listing for the handmade versions? I just scored the 2018 slipcase version which I wanted due to the error on the 2021 repress. The one I got has handmade cover-art by Jarboe. Any idea how many she did and how many Michael did?

Quote from Young God Records: "Unlike the box set the gatefold version is not a limited edition item. (…) We will make more available for pre order when we have a delivery date from the pressing plant." Good news for people who are fine with the gatefold vinyl version and not willing (or able) to pay greedbag prices.

So grateful for this repress. Hopefully the gits scalping this lovely (and hardly uncommon!) album won't be doing so for very much longer!

it contains 3 live tracks:
- Yum-Yab Killers
- The Final Sacrifice
- YRP 2
YRP 2 is an excerpt from YRP on "Die Tür ist zu", recorded live in London, 1995. Also "Soundsection (excerpt from "the Sound") on Die Tür ist zu is from London, 1995. I guess therefore that also Yum-Yab Killers and The Final Sacrifice come from that show.
I Love You This Much is supposed to be also a live take but i wasn't able to identify any live recording in the song.

Could anyone tell me what the "Die Tür Ist Zu" version of this is? I found a vinyl version of that in a shop but never bought it since I didn't know about it

Soundtracks For The Blind. I am a big fan of Swans, but didn't get in until To Be Kind came out. I worked through their discography and like everything. For some reason I was slightly underwhelmed with this one when I first heard it. I loved a few of the tracks, but felt unsure about it as an album. After giving it some time, it grew on me. It grew on me a lot. After years of listening to it, I now consider it one of their best, if not THE best. I recently upgraded to the vinyl and wow, it sounds tremendous!

The greatest record ever. Period. This one kicked me in the gut from the first time I heard it. 2.5 hours and not a wasted moment. I used to think "Volcano" was a bit awkwardly situated, but it works for me now. The power and emotion in this album is astounding. The ultimate "collage" album. Unmissable.
