This pressing came quite dirty. By the time I got to uncle remus, there was distortion from the gunk/dust? buildup on my stylus.

I got introduced to Zappa in college in 1989. This was one of my favorite releases. The Apostrophe/Overnight Sensation CD. I haven’t listened to it in a while(2 decades). I picked this up for $20 during a holiday sale. It sounds great. Listening to it brought back some memories. This record will be back in the rotation going forward.
Vinyl is quiet and clear sounding. Quality pressing.
‘Have you seen us , Uncle Remus…’ -
For me this is NOT a pressing that is better than my original 1974 Discreet US pressing ... For the sake of gaining a tiny bit of clarity the result is : aggressive high-ends for this remaster . Plus : no improvement in bass and midrange.
Even with my set of Atlas Mavros cables (which are soft on sibilance and high-ends) the listening of the 2024 remaster is really fatiguing .
So as a listening experience , in term of pleasure I would put the CD 50th anniversary Box-Set in first place , them my 1974 Discreet record in second and in third position far behind , the 2024 vinyl remaster (though in don't thing I will keep it in my Zappa collection ...)
Disappointed is the word .

This 50th anniversary remastered is a real deal : good pressing, fine soundscape to discover FZ music.
