I have an orange copy of this LP. Made in England, 1997. I don't see it here on Discogs. Anyone have more info please?

The first record without Alan Wilder and there has been some resurged interest into the fallout of the band after, Martin Gore believed the band would disband in 1995 when he left, Ultra came out in 1997 and Alan's industrial presence is felt all over this record. What a paradox, he leaves then the band record the album that sounds like most his influence. Alan would go on to have experimental artistic integrity with Recoil.

After all the breakdown that occurred in the aftermath of "Songs Of Faith And Devotion", "Ultra" came along in the form of consolation. The stitches were not small and the wounds needed extra time to heal. Luckily for the band, it took a miracle and in that, this album is a triumph all of its own.

I dont like this album much.
but interesting. 1997 was a time when we all grew up and became teenagers. i was 12 and there was a new DM Album and it became successful. Nobody had expected.

The 4 singles from that album are good the other songs are mediocre.

BARREL OF A GUN is an awesome song and shows us that nobody can survive DM. 1997 grunge was already dead.

The second single iTS NO GOOD was a strange dance-alternative rock song which got a lot of airplay worldwide thanks to the funny ironic video directed by ANTON CORBIJN

I agree with the last reviewer in the sense that this album may be downgraded by fans but for me this album is in the top 3 with SOFD and Playing The Angel. For me the bass parts on this record are warm and soothing and the beats are thoughtfully spaced out to give the tracks the time they need to breathe. I also think the melodies are great - essential.
