Notes

All tracks written and produced for R&S Records.

There is an inconsistency of track names and durations between labels and cover:

A1 is "The Vamp" on cover.
A2 is "Brain X-Pedition" on cover, which also incorrectly lists duration at 3:02 - track is closer to 3:20 (as printed on centre label).
A3 is "Runnin Machines" on cover, which same as the label also incorrectly lists duration at 4:52 - track is closer to 4:10.
B2 is "Eastern Roads" on cover.

Track A1 samples:
Noise from Landlord - I Like It (Blow Out Dub)

Track A3 samples:
Acid line from Zsa Zsa La Boum - Something Scary
Synth stab and percussion from Major Problem - Acid Queen

"The Vamp" huge huge tune that rocked the dance floors across the word.
Big driving beats intro then that huge build synth - massive tune !

For me, the track that really makes the difference in this piece of wax is Eastern. With its inteligent trance feeling around it, still is a huge dancefloor track.

Everyone knows this 12" for Vamp, but the stand out track for me is Steel, with its dark intro and grinding bass synth, a pure stomping techno track that just screamed our for an acapella(not telling what one I used, but it was a belter !)

saw Vamp live at the Orbit,he was brill, I was resident there.... The original sample is from Reese & Santonio "the Sound" which was basically a loop of chords and drums KMS records around 1987

MentallyMad : Your remark triggered me to find out who originally came up with "The Sound" which is sampled (Kevin or Todd) check out what this guy has to say about it... http://www.discogs.sie.com/Todd-Terry-Project-Bango-To-The-Batmobile-Back-To-The-Beat/master/93389

Running Machine pays homage to Kaos Dance Records - Something Scary & Acid Queen. The whole EP is fantastic and on hearing always transports back to early '91 and happy days...

"The Vamp" samples Todd Terry's "Back To The Beat", among others.

I consider The Vamp as one of those tracks which stands out from the rest. Such an original sound, however after many years I suddenly realized that Kevin Saunderson's 'The Sound' is used in the track. Funny , Reese remixed it 6 yrs later and somebody on youtube was complaining that it didn't have anything to do with the original...
